Jalianne Li

Jalianne Li is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus in dance. Of mixed Chinese and Scottish descent, she is based in Moncton, NB, the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik and Mi’kmaq Peoples. After obtaining her BSc, she studied dance at Trinity Laban, apprenticed with Springs Dance Company and founded surFace Dance in 2012.

influenced by the spaces in which she creates, embraces both abstract and emotive movement, and integrates dance on video and projection.

She has danced in pieces by Isabelle Boulanger, Sarah Johnson Power (Connection Dance Works), Natalie Morin, Patricia Allison, Marie-Luce Quéverdo, and Sylvia Kasparian. She is also a dancer with Danse En L’Air, a stilt-walker with Circus Stella, and has performed with Theatre New Brunswick and Satellite Théâtre. She is also a harpist.

Jalianne has been supported by artsnb and the Canada Council for the Arts, is the Dance Representative for the Acadian Association of Professional Artists of New Brunswick (AAAPNB), a board member of the New Brunswick Arts Board, and was nominated as a finalist in the Dance / Circus Arts category at the 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024 Éloizes awards show.
